Asia Argento is an Italian actress and filmmaker who was born into a large family of both. She has pursued these two professions her own. Aged nine the actress made her film debut with Sergio Citti in Sogni e bisogni. She had a leading role in the film as Cristina Comencini in her first film Zoo in 1989. Michele Soavi directed The Church 1989. Next, in 1989 she portrayed Nanni Moretti's (also directed) daughter in Red Wood Pigeon. Her 1995 collaboration alongside Michel Piccoli, in Peter Del Monte's Traveling Companion won her yet another David di Donatello award as well as Grolla of Oro. Asia started directing short films in the year 1994. She made two: Prospettive, 1996, she directed a documentary about her father and then Abel/Asia from 1998. Both focused on the legendary director Abel Ferrara. This latter was recognized by the Rome Film Festival. Asia's first feature length film debut is Scarlet Diva (2000) in 1999. In it, she played the role of lead actress and also wrote the screenplay. The film was released on May 20 the 20th of May, 2000 in Italy along with the rest of world. The film was released on Brooklyn, New York it received an award from the Williamsburg film festival. Anna Lou was her first born child in the year 2001. After directing several music videos she had Anna Lou. In 2002 Asia appeared in The Red Siren with Jean Marc Barr, and Rob Cohen's Action thriller, which was directed by Vin Diesel. Asia can also be the writer of several short stories published in many prestigious magazines
